The Power of ‘Alternative’ Methods
When domain names were still free and the company wanted to make a massive push by giving away a free domain name with every dial-up paid for service. Technical support needed to grow by approximately 50% and we had 8 weeks to find, interview, employ, induct and train over 40 new technical support staff including a brand-new night shift. We advertised in the Evening Standard newspaper and the local paper in Putney, hired a hotel and booked a date for the interviews.
We produced a multiple-choice technical test on floppy disk to help narrow down those with the right level of technical knowledge, we started the day by leading a number of the existing customer and technical support team members in a guided visualisation, to consider what kind of people they would like to attract for the day, the kind of people they would like to work with and who shared their values, etc.
We cleared the old stagnant energetic imprints from the areas of the hotel we were using and we opened the doors on a stormy, wet Saturday. We worked tirelessly seeing, testing and talking to almost 550 people that day and ended with 44 confirmed job offers by the end of the day. 6 weeks later they were sat at desks with new computers, phones and headsets, having been inducted and trained and ready in time for the launch which resulted in Global Internet, overnight, becoming the largest Domain reseller in the UK.
