The Power of Showing up to an Invitation

Yesterday evening was the second part of Earl Talbot ☯️ workshop around reclaiming your origin story and because the whole process was so unexpected and powerful I wanted to share it.

Highlights

• Guides you to go back through your life with a different lens/perspective to see the narratives that have shaped you.

• Opens up your awareness to the impact that these narratives have had on your life and the lives of your family.
• A ‘space’ protected by a covenant of trust that helped people to open up and share.
• A relatively quick and easy process that opens up way more than you could have imagined.
• A major break-through happened for me

For me, the 2 session short course was around helping us to see and understand the narratives and ‘stories’ that we were born into and also those that we have acquired/created ourselves since through our friends, family and society in general. We could then uncover ways to rewrite and pivot them into much more empowering narratives. I was a curious and willing participant who has done a lot of personal development work over the past 30 years and still ended up surprised at the speed and depth of the learnings and insights that I came across.

Earl is incredibly good at holding space and asking questions that take you straight into the core of the issue at hand and we quickly realised that as a group we shared some key narratives. Somehow, the right group of people turned up for the course in a way that worked for us all. The workbook was a great guide for the process and thinking with hindsight, as a group we could easily have paired up and shared some of the work in between the 2 sessions.

I experienced a massive break-through that was totally out of left-field and unexpected. I have had some really bad experiences with dentists as a child and as a teenager and as a result hadn’t been to a dentist for over 25 years. Yesterday morning I went along for a check-up without me being in pain or in trouble with anything dental. That was monumental for me and even better was that although I need a crown or an extraction, the dentist was surprised by how good my teeth were. I was able to go through the appointment almost as if I was a different person. Stronger, more in control and way less nervous. In the past I wouldn’t have gone until I was in real trouble so this was a hugely big deal for me.

As a result of how well the course was received and the impact that it had on us, Earl is planning to run the course regularly and I can’t recommend it highly enough. If I were to equate the scale of the impact it has had on me against the time spent it would be off the scale.

Now is a time in our society and our worlds when we really do need to step up, deal with our buried stuff and face whatever is coming head-on and this course is a great place to start or continue that process.
